LightRiver Interactive Webinar: MPLS – Multi-Protocol Label Switching
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 / 1:30 PM Eastern (10:30 AM Pacific)

MPLS – Working Fundamentals

The creation of the internet unleashed a wave of creativity and energy that is still being harnessed today; tremendous efforts have been directed to find new ways to use networking. The effect of this has been to drive up bandwidth requirements significantly, and to increase the business value of the data being transmitted. Almost every business communication today touches a network (internal or Internet) in some manner.

As the volume and value of this network traffic increased, the need to develop more efficient, reliable protocols and higher capacity networks became paramount. The work to bring layer-2 Ethernet switching speed to layer-3 routed networks spawned MPLS - multi-protocol label switching. It is now recognized that blending the dynamic routing and over subscription capabilities of a packet data network with the service-assured delivery, manageability, and performance of traditional circuit-based protocols provides benefits in addition to higher-performance.

MPLS, now a mature, state-of-the-art technology, provides high-performance routing and forwarding, supports many quality of service (QoS) and class of service (CoS) features, and provides a resilient network with recovery times in the same class as SONET (< 50 Msec).

This month’s webinar covers MPLS – Multi-protocol Label Switching. The presentation will cover the working fundamentals of MPLS, Layer-2/3 VPN technology, and VPLS. Please join us to explore these fascinating and important topics and to learn what MPLS can do for your network. Please join us Wednesday, April 26, at 1:30PM EST to explore another chapter in LightRiver’s continuing effort to provide valuable technology and market information to our clients.
