POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide high-quality technical assistance for a range of optical networking products. Equipment primarily consists of SONET multiplexers and DWDM systems. You will primarily work with customers over the telephone, email and via the web. Reproduce customer troubles in our NextGen transmission lab, isolate and correct common and complex issues identified as network related or network element specific. Provide hardware and software technical support, including configuration assistance and troubleshooting, escalate when necessary. Track trouble tickets and issue RMAs. Help in developing test plans and procedures. Work with a broad range of customers, ILECs, CLECs, and large private network operators. May require travel to sites to provide customer with assistance in test and turn up, troubleshooting, and provisioning. Participate in 24x7 pager rotation.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
This position requires 3 years or more of industry experience, BS degree or equivalent work experience. Will work under general supervision.
Should have experience in the operations and or test and turn-up optical networking equipment, writing test plans and procedures. Should have a fundamental understanding of ip and Ethernet.

Must be able to operate DS-1/DS-3 BERTs
Have general familiarity with other telecommunications test equipment such as fiber
optic power meters and sources.
